An early detection of a lithium battery failure is an important element in the protection scheme against bodily and property damage during such fire. Given the unique characteristics of a lithium fire and its diverse use, the detection system should be tailored optimally to the required application. Early detection may include, among other things: CO detectors (CO is a gas emitted quickly at the start of the Thermal Runaway process), heat/IR detectors, smoke detectors, and flame detectors.
An early and effective detection of the Thermal Runaway process allows to respond early, sometimes even before a fire has developed, and save people and property around the battery.
